NDA To Cross 400 Seats Before 12.30 PM On June 4, Win All 80 Seats In UP: Amit Shah
Amit Shah Interview: The Union Home Minister said that the voter turnout in the first two phases was low as there is no contest from the other side.
Lok Sabha Elections: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday exuded confidence on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led alliance and said that the NDA camp will cross the 400-seat mark in the Lok Sabha elections. Shah also claimed that his party is moving towards the third phase with well over 100 seats from the first two. The Union Home Minister also claimed that the BJP will win all the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
In an exclusive interview with News18 Network, the Union Home Minister asserted that the saffron party will cross the 400 seat-mark before 12.30 PM on the counting day. On the question of lower voter turnout in the first two phases of the Lok Sabha polls, Shah said that the turnout was low as electoral rolls have been revised after 12 years and there is no contest from the other side.
"You will see on counting day, before 12.30 pm, NDA will cross 400, Modi ji will again become Prime Minister. There are many reasons for the lower turnout. After twelve years, the electoral rolls have been revised. The second reason is that there is no contest from the other side, which affects the turnout in a way," Amit Shah said.
"My party’s team and I have done a detailed analysis. We are moving towards the third phase with well over 100 seats from the first two. I don't see any problem in crossing the target of 400," he added. In the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, 102 seats across 21 states and Union Territories went to polls, and as far as the second phase of polling is concerned, polling was held in 88 constituencies across 13 states and Union Territories.
According to the Election Commission, a voter turnout of 66.14 per cent was recorded in the first and 66.71 per cent in the second phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking on Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha seats, the Union Home Minister claimed that if everything goes well in UP, the saffron party can win all 80 seats.
On being asked about the chances of breaking the 2014 election record in UP, Shah said,"Yes, in Uttar Pradesh, if everything goes well, we will win 80 out of 80." In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA bloc won 73 seats in UP, and in the 2019 polls, the bloc bagged 64 seats in the state.
Lok Sabha elections are set to be held across India in seven phases between April 19 to June 1. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
