AIADMK Seals Deal With Alliance

The principal opposition party in Tamil Nadu concluded seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with its allies DMDK, SDPI, and Puthiya Tamizhagam on Wednesday. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, announcing the electoral alliances at the party headquarters, disclosed that the DMDK would field candidates in the Tiruvallur (SC), Central Chennai, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, and Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituencies.

Palaniswami further stated that Puthiya Tamizhagam (PT) had been given the Tenkasi constituency, while the Dindigul segment was allocated to SDPI.

The agreements were formalized in the presence of DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth, PT chief K Krishnasamy, and SDPI's state unit chief Nellai Mubarak.

Regarding the DMK's manifesto pledges for the LS polls, Palaniswami raised questions about the ruling party's fulfillment of promises made ahead of both the 2019 Parliamentary election and the 2021 Assembly polls. "How many assurances has the DMK fulfilled? Ahead of the (2021) Assembly polls, the DMK had repeatedly affirmed that once it captured power it would scrap NEET for Tamil Nadu. Three years have gone by. However, the assurance has not been fulfilled," Palaniswami said, as per PTI.
