ABP-CVoter Snap Poll: Should Oppn Contest Lok Sabha Election With PM Face? Know Voters' Views

ABP-CVoter Snap Poll: The I.N.D.I.A. bloc, an alliance with 28 parties, is yet to reveal a PM face to take on the BJP's election juggernaut led by PM Modi. Here's what voters say about the matter.

As the Lok Sabha Elections draw near, the question of Modi vs. Who has again started to take centre stage. On one end, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up to fight for a third term in office, and on the other, the opposition is yet to reveal a face to take on the BJP's election juggernaut led by PM Modi.

In a show of strength, the opposition recently formed a new alliance with 28 parties, namely the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.). The bloc has held three meetings so far to coordinate and decide on a future roadmap but amid all the hustle and bustle there is still no clarity on PM's face. Besides finalising the PM face, the bloc also has the task of reaching a consensus on seat sharing.

Should the opposition fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with a PM face, the CVoter conducted a snap poll to gauge the mood of the voters. Of the total respondents, 50 per cent are of the view that the opposition should contest the Lok Sabha elections with a PM face, while around 22 per cent think otherwise. Around 28 per cent of voters were not sure.

Among those who said yes, 46.3% are Opposition supporters while 56.0% favour the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP. As for those who opined otherwise, 25.7% are Opposition supporters while 16.9% are NDA supporters.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress attempted to take on the PM Modi-led BJP campaign without a PM face and was handed a crushing defeat by the saffron party, which registered a landslide victory. The BJP won 303 seats, whereas the Congress secured only 52 seats on its own.

[Disclaimer: This survey was based on CVoter personal interviews conducted among 2,686 adults across India. Sometimes the table figures do not sum to 100 due to the effects of rounding off. The margin of error is +/- 3% at the macro level and +/- 5% at the micro level. We believe this will give the closest possible resemblance to the trends.]
