2019 Lok Sabha polls | Chhattisgarh : BJP looks to edge Congress despite suffering major setback in assembly elections

The Bharatiya Janta party received a massive setback in the 2018 legislative assembly election as the Congress inflicted a massive defeat on the Raman Singh-led BJP party.

The 2019 Lok Sabha elections are round the corner and political parties are in full campaign mode to lure the billion plus Indian electorate. The election commission had recently announced that the general elections shall be held across the 543 parliamentary constituencies in seven phases.

As per the latest ABP-C Voter Survey, BJP is expected to edge the Congress in the Lok Sabha polls by winning six out of the eleven parliamentary seats.

The Lok Sabha polls in the state of Chhattisgarh shall happen on 11, 18th and 23rd of April. Out of 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state, four are reserved for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category and one for the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.

The Bharatiya Janata Party had a clinical performance in the 2014 General elections winning 10 out of the 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The BJP extended its supremacy in the Hindi heartland, securing a thumping win in the state for the third successive elections. The saffron party would like to make it four successive wins in the state at the parliamentary elections.

The ruling Congress would look to add to the one seat it had won in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections by hoping that the voter votes in their favour the way they did in the recently held state assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janta party received a massive setback in the 2018 legislative assembly election as the Congress inflicted a massive defeat on the Raman Singh-led BJP party. The BJP suffered a massive dent plummeting to a measly 15 seats from the bagful of seats they had won in the 2013 assembly elections. On the other hand, Congress secured a thumping mandate of the people winning 68 of the total 90 seats.
