Lakhimpur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Sarbananda Sonowal from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 292138 votes. The polling / voting in Lakhimpur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Pradan Boruah and Congress Party#s Anil borgohain

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 7 out of the 14 parliamentary seat with 36.5 percent vote share while the All India United Democratic Front managed to win just 3 seats with a 14.8 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 77.71% Lok Sabha percent with 77.84% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Asom Gana Parishad candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 28148 votes. Here, Asom Gana Parishad leader Dr. Arun Kumar Sarmah attained 300865 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Ranee Narah bagged 272717 votes
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Asom Gana Parishad candidate by a margin of 54523 votes INC candidate Ranee Narah had got 255925 while AGP got Sarbananda Sonowal votes.
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Asom Gana Parishad candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Ranee Narah attained 268794 votes and AGP's Dr. Arun Kumar Sarma bagged 148012 votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Asom Gana Parishad and Indian National Congress here Asom Gana Parishad candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 3440 votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Asom Gana Parishad candidate by a margin of 61360 votes INC candidate Bolin Kuli had got 187610 while AGP got Iswar Prasanna Hazarika votes.
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated BLD candidate by a margin of 65232 votes INC candidate Lalit Kumar Doley had got 162750 while BLD got Mohananda Bora votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 43712 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Biswanarayan Shastri attained 89070 votes and IND candidate Khagendra Nath Saikia bagged 45358 votes
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated CPI candidate by a margin of 53686 votes INC candidate B. Sastri. had got 102739 while CPI got S. Goswami votes.
