Kakinada: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Thota Narasimham from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won the elections by a margin of 3431 votes. The polling / voting in Kakinada constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s Chalamalasetti Sunil and YSR Congress Party#s Vanga Geetha

Kakinada 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 77.56% Lok Sabha percent with 78.79% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 76.33% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 4358 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 22 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Kakinada, 20 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Thota Narasimham of the Telugu Desam Party as he defeated Chalamalasetty Sunil by a margin of 3431 votes.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Telugu Desam Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TDP candidate Mudragada Padmanabham attained 435811 votes and INC's Thota Subbarao bagged 314376 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 67799 votes BJP candidate Krishnamraju U.V. had got 330381 while TDP got Gopala Krishna Thota votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 38499 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Gopalakrishna Thota attained 308480 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Thota Subba Rao bagged 269981 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 35317 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Thota Subbarao attained 287357 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Mangapati Pallamraju Mallipudi bagged 252040 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 82983 votes INC candidate Mallipudi Mangapathi Pallamraju had got 383681 while TDP got Thota Gopala Krishna votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Telugu Desam Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TDP candidate Thota Gopala Krishna attained 344038 votes and INC's Sanjeeva Rao M.S. bagged 214324 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated JNP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC(I) candidate Sanjeevi Rao M.S. attained 242901 votes and JNP's Vaddi Mutyala Rao bagged 79924 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated BLD candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Sanjeevirao M. S. attained 269017 votes and BLD's Vaddi Mutyalarao bagged 145749 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated BJS candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate M. S. Sanjeevi Rao attained 313060 votes and BJS's P. V. N. Raju bagged 20134 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPI candidate with a difference of 30000 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader T.R. Mosaliganti attained 168647 votes and CPI candidate P.S. Sarma bagged 138647 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPI candidate with a difference of 18684 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Mosalikanti Thirumala Rao attained 143575 votes and CPI candidate Chelikani Venkata Rama Rao bagged 124891 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated CPI candidate by a margin of 55545 votes INC candidate B.S. Murthy had got 204319 while CPI got Chelikani Vankata Rama Rao votes.
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 26361 votes. The Pakistan army used heavy weaponry, firing 120 mm mortars targeting civilian hamlets and forward posts since 1730 hours Tuesday, an army officer said. They fired from small, automatic and heavy weaponry in Krishna Gati, Balakote, Khari Karmara, Mankote, Tarkundi (Poonch district), Kalal, Baba Khori, Kalsian, Laam and Jhangar areas (Rajouri) and Pallanwala and Laleali (Jammu), the officer added.
