Delhi Polls: Kejriwal's Nomination Postponed Due To Delay Caused By Road Show

On his way to file nomination from New Delhi assembly seat, Kejriwal held a roadshow from the Valmiki Mandir to Hanuman Mandir in Delhi.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal will file his nomination from New Delhi seat on Tuesday, after his scheduled programme on Monday got delayed due to his road show. “I was supposed to file my nomination at 3 pm today but the office closes at 3 pm. I was told I'll have to file nomination but I said how can I leave them (people at road show) and go? I'll go to file nomination tomorrow,” said Kejriwal. Kejriwal started his rally to file his nomination for the New Delhi assembly seat at the sub-divisional magistrate in Jamnagar on Monday afternoon. He contesting for the third time from the same constituency. On his way to file nomination from New Delhi assembly seat, Kejriwal held a mega roadshow from the Valmiki Mandir to Hanuman Mandir in Delhi. The rally went to the Connaught Place via Panchkuian Marg into the Inner Circle and then towards the Outer Circle on to the Baba Kharak Singh Marg. It will end near the Patel Chowk Metro station. Scores of supporters walked in the rally holding brooms as he waved to them and flashed the victory sign amid chants of "acchhe beete panch saal, lage raho Kejriwal" (5 years went well, go on Kejriwal). He was accompanied by his family. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP leader Sanjay Singh also joined him. "Many halts of the Aam Aadmi Party started from the historic Valmiki temple in New Delhi. It was from here in 2013 that we took a 'broom' for the first time to clear politics. Today, once again taking the blessings of Lord Valmiki, I will go to fill my nomination," Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi. Watch | Delhi Polls: Kejriwal's mega roadshow ahead of filing nomination Kejriwal won the seat in 2013 and 2015 Assembly elections with a vote percentage of 53.46 and 64.34 respectively. Delhi is going to the polls on February 8 and the counting will be done on February 11. The last date of filing the nominations is January 21. Both the Congress and BJP are yet to announce their candidates against him from the New Delhi seat. Apart from Kejriwal, senior Congress leaders Alka Lamba and Arvinder Singh Lovely and BJP's Vijender Gupta will also file their nominations on Monday.
