Background

Cuddalore: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Arunmozhithevan.A from All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) won the elections by a margin of 203125 votes. The polling / voting in Cuddalore constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Pattali Makkal Katchi#s R. Govindasamy and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam#s T.R.P.S. Ramesh

Cuddalore 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won 37 out of the 39 parliamentary seat with 44.3 percent vote share while the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win just 1 seats with a 5.5 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 78.90% Lok Sabha percent with 77.72% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Out of the 17 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Cuddalore, 15 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Arunmozhithevan.A of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam as he defeated Nandagopalakrishnan.K. by a margin of 203125 votes.

Here, Indian National Congress leader Sambandam Keerapalayam Alagiri attained 320473 votes and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate Sampath M C bagged 296941 votes
  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate defated All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in one-sided contest. Here, DMK candidate Venkatapathy. K attained 400059 votes and ADMK's Rajendran. R bagged 268707 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate had defeated All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate by a margin of 73953 votes DMK candidate Sankar, Adhi had got 358367 while ADMK got Dhamotharan M.C. votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate defeated TMC(M) candidate with a difference of 27129 votes. Here, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader Dhamotharan M.C. attained 309985 votes and TMC(M) candidate Venkatesan P.R.S. bagged 282856 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, TMC(M) candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TMC(M) candidate Venkatesan P.R.S attained 389660 votes and INC's Santhamurthy V bagged 184456 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated JD candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Kaliaperumal P.P. attained 360445 votes and JD's Bhuvarahan G. bagged 152388 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate P. R. S. Venkatesan attained 331617 votes and DMK's Bhaskaran bagged 214782 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Venkatesan P.R.S. attained 327393 votes and DMK's Ramu T. Alias Killivalavan bagged 195439 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated ADK candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC(I) candidate Muthukumaran R. attained 262694 votes and ADK's Arvinda Bala Pajanor bagged 154043 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated NCO candidate by a margin of 89057 votes INC candidate Bhuvarahan G. had got 231128 while NCO got Radhakrishnan S. votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated NCO candidate with a difference of 36487 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader S. Radhakrishnan attained 229934 votes and NCO candidate R. Muthukumaran bagged 193447 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 47973 votes. Here, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader V. K. Gounder attained 225571 votes and INC candidate S. Radhakrishnan bagged 177598 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 35387 votes. Here, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader T. Ramabadra Naidu attained 160811 votes and INC candidate T.D. Muthukumaraswami Naidu bagged 125424 votes
