Chalakudy: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Innocent from Independent (IND) won the elections by a margin of 13884 votes. The polling / voting in Chalakudy constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Communist Party of India (Marxist)#s Innocent and Congress Party#s Benny behanan

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Indian National Congress won 8 out of the 20 parliamentary seat with 31.1 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 5 seats with a 21.6 percent vote share.
