Banka: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won the elections by a margin of 10144 votes. The polling / voting in Banka constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Janata Dal (United)#s Giridhari Yadav and Rashtriya Janata Dal#s Jay Prakash Narayan Yadav

Banka 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 58.04% Lok Sabha percent with 55.89% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 60.50% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 9753 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 17 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Banka, 14 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal as he defeated Putul Kumari by a margin of 10144 votes.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Janata Dal (United) candidate defeated Independent candidate with a difference of 21408 votes. Here, Janata Dal (United) leader Digvijay Singh attained 233453 votes and Independent candidate Giridhari Yadav bagged 212045 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, SAP candidate defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate with a difference of 11291 votes. Here, SAP leader Digvijay Singh attained 331660 votes and Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Giridhari Yadav bagged 320369 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defeated SAP candidate with a difference of 14715 votes. Here, JD leader Giridhari Yadav attained 276214 votes and SAP candidate Digvijay Singh bagged 261499 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Pratap Singh attained 241797 votes and INC's Manorma Singh (W) bagged 131410 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Pratap Singh attained 369771 votes and INC's Manorman Singh bagged 153156 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Manorma Singh attained 306703 votes and BJP's Janardan Yadav bagged 154731 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JNP(S) candidate by a margin of 76423 votes INC(I) candidate Chandra Shekhar Singh had got 171781 while JNP(S) got Limaye Madhu votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Limaye Madhu attained 239550 votes and INC's Chandra Shekhar Singh bagged 78866 votes.

  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, BJS candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 17567 votes. Here, BJS leader B. S. Sharma attained 81297 votes and INC candidate S. Devi bagged 63730 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SWA candidate with a difference of 37394 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Shakuntala Devi attained 87359 votes and SWA candidate Kazi S.A. Matin bagged 49965 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, JHP candidate had defeated JHP candidate by a margin of 54659 votes JHP candidate Shakuntala Devi had got 78857 while JHP got Rajeshwar Prasad Chaudhury votes.
