Balaghat: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bodhsingh Bhagat from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 96041 votes. The polling / voting in Balaghat constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 4 on 29 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Dhal Singh Bisen and Congress Party#s Madhu bhagat

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 27 out of the 29 parliamentary seat with 54 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just 2 seats with a 34.9 percent vote share.

Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Gaurishankar Chaturbhuj Bisen attained 240066 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Vishaveshwar Bhagat bagged 214535 votes
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janta Party here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his Bharatiya Janta Party counterpart with a difference of 1257 votes.
