Background

Anantapur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, J.C. Divakar Reddi from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won the elections by a margin of 61991 votes. The polling / voting in Anantapur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s Pavan Reddy and YSR Congress Party#s Tallari Rangaiah

Anantapur 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Anantapur Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 78.41% Lok Sabha percent with 79.03% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 77.77% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 8857 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 13 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Anantapur, 11 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of J.C. Divakar Reddi of the Telugu Desam Party as he defeated Anantha Venkataramireddy by a margin of 61991 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 73404 votes INC candidate Anantha Venkata Rami Reddy had got 458925 while TDP got Kalava Srinivasulu votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 21102 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Kalava Srinivasulu attained 378488 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Anantha Venkata Rami Reddy bagged 357386 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate by a margin of 82398 votes INC candidate Anantha Venkatarami Reddy had got 320474 while CPI got K.Ramakrishna votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate by a margin of 78859 votes INC candidate Anantha Venkatarami Reddy had got 284845 while CPI got R.Rangappa votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Telugu Desam Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Anantha Venkata Reddy attained 362676 votes and TDP's B.T.L.N. Chowdary bagged 200392 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 59482 votes INC candidate Anantha Venkata Reddy had got 349685 while TDP got G. Ramanna Chowdary votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Telugu Desam Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TDP candidate Devineni Narayana Swamy attained 302307 votes and INC's Daruru Pullaiah bagged 193658 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JNP candidate by a margin of 73277 votes INC(I) candidate Darur Pullaiah had got 171838 while JNP got D. Narayanaswmy votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated BLD candidate with a difference of 42208 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Darur Pullaiah attained 215279 votes and BLD candidate D. Narayanaswamy bagged 173071 votes
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated NCO candidate by a margin of 89057 votes INC candidate Antony Reddi Ponnapati had got 200701 while NCO got Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated CPI candidate by a margin of 62614 votes INC candidate P. A. Reddy had got 135685 while CPI got I. Sadasivan votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPI candidate with a difference of 24868 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Osman Ali Khan attained 120826 votes and CPI candidate I. Sadasivan bagged 95958 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 10801 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader T. Nagi Reddy attained 98976 votes and INC candidate Paidi Lakshmayya bagged 88175 votes
