Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Seeking Postponement Of NEET UG Exam 2021 - Check Details
NEET UG Exam 2021: A bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Hrishikesh Roy and CT Ravikumar said, "We will not entertain this petition. We do not want uncertainty, let the examination continue."
NEET UG Exam 2021: The Supreme Court of India on Monday dismissed a writ petition seeking a direction to the authorities concerned to reschedule or postpone the NEET UG exam 2021. In the petition, the date of CBSE compartment, private, correspondence examinations was said to clash with NEET UG 2021 examination date. But the apex court said that the examination will be held on September 12, 2021, as per the schedule.
A petition was filed in the Supreme Court by a batch of students in which they argued that the entrance exam was clashing with other exams. On which the court said that the examination date cannot be deferred based on the petition filed by some students.
A bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice CT Ravikumar said, "We will not entertain this petition. We do not want uncertainty, let the examination continue."
The National Testing Agency had clarified to the bench on September 3, 2021, that students will be allowed to appear in the examination, despite the fact that CBSE results will not be declared till then. The NTA had said, "Non-declaration of results will not debar students from appearing in the examination and the results will be sought only during counselling."
The petition, filed by advocate Sumant Nukala, had sought the postponement of the September 12 public notice of NEET-UG 2021 as "clearly arbitrary and in violation of Article 14 of the Constitution of India". While hearing the submissions made by the counsel for NTA on September 3, the Bench had orally told the counsel for the petitioner, "Your complaint is that other examinations will start and till then your result will not be declared. But the relief claimed is unnecessary as the officials say that you will be allowed to appear in the examination."
