Schools Reopen From Today With 50 Percent Capacity; Know Which States Plan To Conduct Classes
Schools in some states are set to reopen from today amid strict Covid 19 precautions. Here's a look at which states plan to conduct classes.
New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs had allowed schools to reopen with the start of Unlock 4. Even though schools were expected to open from September many decided to continue keeping it closed for another month. From today, few states will reopen schools in a graded manner amid stringent Covid-19 precautions. Classes will be conducted in shifts with 50 percent capacity.

Uttar Pradesh:
The state is going to open schools for students of classes 9 to 12 outside containment zones from today. The classes will be held in shifts and all necessary Covid 19 precautions such as social distancing will be ensured. While students of the class for 9 and 10 will attend the first shift, those in classes for 11 and 12 will be present in the second shift. Students will have to carry written permission from parents or guardian. Schools will only be able to call only 50 percent of students at a time. The state has also released directives for online education. Earlier the UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma has said that the Covid-19 situation in the state will be monitored until September 15 and only then the state will decide whether schools will be opened or not.
Sikkim
The state will open all schools in a graded manner. No winter holidays will be given to students and classes will be held six days a week with Saturday being a half day. Students will have to carry written permission from parents or guardian.
Punjab
The state government has decided to allow only students of classes 9-12 to attend schools. They will need permission from parents or guardians. Online education will remain the preferred mode of teaching. Schools which open will have to follow the SOPs released by the School Education Department.
