NEET-PG Exam To Be Postponed? Supreme Court Agrees To Hear Plea Filed By Candidates Tomorrow

Supreme Court will hear tomorrow a petition seeking postponement of the NEET-PG 2024 examination, which is scheduled for August 11, 2024.

NEET-PG 2024 Exam: Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to hear tomorrow a petition seeking postponement of the NEET-PG 2024 examination, which is scheduled for August 11, 2024. The aggrieved candidates have knocked the top court seeking a direction from court that the exam should be conducted in a single batch to ensure a uniform and fair testing for all candidates. At present, the exam is to be conducted in two shifts.

The candidates apprehend that there is a likelihood that one batch of candidates may face a more difficult question paper than the other batch.

They contend that as candidates are unaware of the formula for normalisation that will be applied to conduct exams in two batches, the exam must be conducted in one single batch to ensure a uniform and fair testing environment for all candidates.

The plea further claims that many candidates who will be appearing in the exam have been allocated highly difficult to reach cities.

The petition was submitted in the apex court that the test cities were allocated on July 31 and the centres are scheduled to be announced on August 8. This was done to curb any malpractice in the examinations, however given the short notice, it has become highly difficult for students to make arrangements for their travel to their specific cities.

They have prayed that the test centres should be allocated more equitably and transparently at nearby places.

In June, the Centre had postponed the NEET-PG examination as a ‘precautionary measure’.

It was said that the ministry will undertake a thorough assessment of the robustness of the processes of the NEET-PG, conducted by the NBEMS along with its technical partner TCS for medical students.

The NEET-PG is a national-level entrance examination which is conducted for admission to all post MBBS courses.
