NEET-PG 2024: Aspirants File Case Against NBEMS, Demand Release Of Official Answer Key For Transparency
A few NEET-PG 2024 aspirants have filed a case against the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, citing some concerns over the examination process.
A group of NEET PG 2024 aspirants has filed a case against the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The case pertains to certain concerns over the examination process, including transparency and alleged discrepancies. The lawyer representing the aspirants has said that the hearing might be held next week.
The main demands of the aspirants are regarding normalisation, transparency in the examination process, and legitimacy of claims. Besides this, they have also requested NBEMS to release the answer key and response key to ensure fairness and accuracy in the results.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates results were announced by the NBEMS on August 23, following which a few candidates alleged that their ranks were lower than expected. They discovered the discrepancies when some of them compared their answers with unofficial answer keys that were made available to them by their coaching institutes. Dissatisfied with their results, these students demanded that the NBE release the normalised and raw marks along with the official answer key.
The candidates are facing a time crunch since the counselling process is around the corner. They have thus been urging the NBEMS to release the answer key promptly. The aspirants also submitted a representation to the NBE on September 4, requesting it to release the NEET-PG 2024 answer key and opening of the grievance portal for a minimum of 15 days, allowing the students to submit their respective concerns.
'Feels Like A Big Scam': NEET-PG Aspirant
One of the NEET-PG aspirants who alleged discrepancies in his result told ABP Live, "I was expecting a score around 480-490 based on calculations from various sources, but I received a rank of 37,000. Last year, with the same marks, my rank was 18,000-19,000. This year’s paper was more difficult, so I anticipated a rank of around 15,000. This feels like a big scam."
Another aspirant stated that he was shocked to see the rank inflation this year as compared to the previous year's trends. "Based on answer keys from multiple sources, I had 115-120 correct answers out of 170 attempted questions, but my rank is 1.45 lakh. Even with increased competition, my rank should have been less than 75,000, but it has doubled," he said.
The NEET-PG 2024 was conducted on August 11 in two shifts. It was supposed to be held on June 23 earlier, but was cancelled just a night before on June 22, due to certain concerns highlighted by the authorities. It is a medical entrance examination conducted annually in a computer-based format for admission to various MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery), and PG Diploma courses across India.
