Women Participation In Country's Workforce Increased By 37% In FY 2023: Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said that the participation of women in the country’s workforce increased by 37% in the financial year 2022 - 23. The Union Education shared the information while addressing the Rozgar Mela in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. In his address, Pradhan further underlined that the increase in women participation in the workforce was 23 per cent in 2017-18. "There has been balanced growth in society as there has been a rise in women's participation in the workforce," Dharmendra Pradhan was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
In his address, the Union minister further underlined how the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the centre has been encouraging the participation of women in the workforce through various women-focussed schemes. He further said that women are more hard-workinhg than men.
Highlighting PM Modi’s stress on uplifting women in the country, he also said that the central government has also been prioritizing women in policy-making and leadership roles. Underlining the importance of upskilling and reskilling working women to help them adapt with the changing technologies, Dharmendra Pradhan also said that there is a need to increase the women workforce in the country.
In his speech, the Union Education Minister further stated that the rate of unemployment in the country has reduced in the recent times, dropping down to 3.7 percent in 2022-23, compared to 6 percent in 2017-18. During the event, the Union Minister also distributed appointment letters to 172 newly recruits who will be joining various departments in central organisations like the Indian Railways and India Posts. In a similar event in Odisha’s Cuttack, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Bishweswar Tudu distributed appointment letters to 114 newly recruits.
