West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) has started the registration process for the West Bengal Civil Service (Executive) Examination, 2023 today, Feb 28. Interested candidates can apply online through the official website at wbpsc.gov.in. The last date to submit the application form is till March 21.

The WBCS Examination consists of two parts – A written Examination and a Personality Test. Written Examination will be held in two successive stages, viz., (i) Preliminary Examination (Objective MCQ Type) and (ii) Main Examination (Both Objective MCQ Type and Conventional Type).

A number of candidates to be selected on the results of the Preliminary Examination will be allowed admission to the Main Examination and a number of candidates to be selected on the results of the Main Examination will be called to appear at the Personality Test.  

The Preliminary Examination will be held at various centres in Kolkata and in certain other districts in West Bengal tentatively in the month of June, 2023 or thereabout.

Eligibility Criteria:

(i) A degree from a recognized University.
(ii) Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali).

Age Limit:

Not below 21 years but not more than 36 years on the 1st January of the year of examination for services and posts included in Group ‘A’ & ’C’ (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January, 1987 and not later than the 1st January, 2002). For the West Bengal Police Service only (i.e. Group ‘B’ Service) age not below 20 years but not more than 36 years on the 1st January of the year of examination (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January, 1987 and not later than the 1st January, 2003).

For services and posts included in Group ‘D,’ the age should not be below 21 years and not more than 39 years on the 1st day of January of the year of the examination (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January, 1984 and not later than the 1st January, 2002). Those candidates whose date of birth lies between the 1st January, 2002 & the 1st January, 2003 [i.e. whose age is between 20 & 21 years as on 01.01.2023] may apply for Group B only.

Application Fees:

Rs.210/- (Rupees two hundred ten only) + Service Charge 1% of Examination Fee subject to a minimum of Rs.5/- (Rupees five only) for online payment through debit/credit card plus service charge /GST as applicable as Govt. Duty or Service Charge of Rs.5/- (Rupees five only) for Net Banking or Service Charge of Rs.20/- (Rupees twenty only) for payment through Bank Counter (off-line payment). SC/ST candidates of West Bengal and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) having a physical disability of 40% and above are not required to pay any fee. OBC candidates of West Bengal are, however, required to pay the usual fee as aforesaid.

• Now fill the details and generate login credentials.
• On the homepage click on 'LOGIN IF ALREADY REGISTRED'.
• Enter the enrollment number and password.
• Now fill the application form.
• Upload photo and signature.
• Submit the application fee.
• Submit the form and take a printout of the confirmation page.
