RRB ALP Vacancy: Railway Recruitment Board Increases ALP Vacancies To 18,799 From 5,696 — Details

RRB ALP Vacancy: RRB has increased ALP vacancies to 18,799. Applications close on 19th February, and age relaxation is provided for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

RRB ALP Vacancy: In a significant development, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has increased the number of vacancies for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) positions to 18,799. This comes after the initial announcement on 19 January, which offered 5,696 positions. The official notification now confirms an addition of 13,103 posts.

According to the RRB's notification, "Railway Recruitment Board has published CEN 01/2024 for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilo (ALP) with 5696 vacancies all over the
Indian Railways. A review has been undertaken in view of additional demand received from Zonal Railways and vacancies of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) stands enhanced to 18799."

This recruitment drive marks the first time in nearly five years that the RRB has advertised positions for ALP roles. The application process, which began on 20 January, is set to close on 19 February 2024. Eligible candidates must be between 18 and 33 years old, with age relaxations applicable for reserved categories as per RRB regulations.

After this week's Kanchanjunga train accident, questions are being raised about the shortage of safety staff. Out of around 10 lakh sanctioned posts under the safety category in the Indian Railways, more than 1.5 lakh were vacant as of March this year, the railway said in response to an RTI.

Safety category posts include train drivers, inspectors, crew controllers, loco instructors, train controllers, track maintainers, station masters, pointsmen, electric signal maintainers, and signalling supervisors, among others.
