Haryana CM Slams Congress Over Job Corruption Allegations, Promises Merit-Based Employment

Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini criticised Congress for allegedly promoting corruption in jobs, emphasizing his government's commitment to merit-based recruitment ahead of the state elections.

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, on Monday, criticised the Congress, stating that some of its leaders are discussing the "kharchi-parchi" (corruption-favoritism) system in government jobs, which he claimed was "prevalent" during their regime. He emphasised that his government's top priority remains providing jobs purely on merit, as reported by news agency PTI.

In a message to the youth of the state, posted on X, Saini expressed concern, stating, "For the past few days, Congress candidates and Bhupinder Singh Hooda's supporters have been playing with your future in the name of 'parchi-kharchi'." He added, "I feel both sadness and anger towards this mentality," referring to two alleged audio clips involving Congress MLAs Neeraj Sharma (Faridabad NIT) and Shamsher Singh Gogi (Assandh).

A few days earlier, BJP MP Anurag Thakur played these clips during a rally, claiming they revealed discussions about job quotas under a potential Congress government. In one clip, the Faridabad NIT MLA reportedly mentioned that if Bhupinder Hooda's Congress comes to power, two lakh jobs would be distributed, and he (Neeraj Sharma) would get a quota of 2,000 jobs. Thakur said that Sharma allegedly promised one job for every 50 votes he received in his constituency.

Thakur also referred to another clip, where Gogi allegedly said that once Congress holds power in Assandh, they would prioritize their relatives and "fill the coffers" of their own homes.

In response, CM Saini accused the Congress of running on an agenda of "bribery, scams, and job auctions," stating that those who never valued merit within their party can't be expected to promote it in governance. He warned the youth that Congress was "auctioning not just your future, but also your abilities, hard work, and your parents' dreams."

He further urged, "If you have to sell your land, mortgage your mother's jewelry, or chase after politicians and middlemen, it's an insult to your self-respect and capabilities." Saini concluded by assuring the youth that jobs would be given based on merit, saying, "If you get a job on your qualification, your turn will come. But if jobs are distributed through 'kharchi' and 'parchi,' the path will be closed forever."

Haryana will go to the polls for its 90 assembly seats on October 5, with the counting of votes scheduled for October 8.
