Greater Noida: GIMS Cancels Recruitment Of 255 Nurses After Staff Protest

Noida: The Government Institute of Medical Science (GIMS), Greater Noida decided to cancel the direct recruitment for 255 staff nurse positions, according to officials. This decision comes after a protest by certain staff members at the hospital, which had an impact on the delivery of medical services at the state-run facility, as reported by PTI.

"The general public is informed that the advertisement published on October 8 for direct recruitment to 255 staff nurse posts by the Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, has been cancelled due to unavoidable reasons," GIMS Director Brig. (Retired) Dr. Rakesh Gupta said in a notice.

He mentioned that following the publication of the advertisement, there was significant discontent among the staff nurses employed at the institute regarding their recruitment status. They pressed for their recruitment to regular positions.

On Monday, a protest occurred within the hospital premises, causing a disruption in all the medical services provided by the hospital. Consequently, patients experienced significant difficulties in accessing healthcare.

In light of the issue above and with the intention of prioritizing the welfare of the nursing staff currently employed at the institute, the decision to cancel the direct recruitment was made.

He also stated that a proposal for fresh recruitment is being prepared for submission to the government, and the subsequent procedures will be carried out after receiving the government's approval.

Notably, the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, is an autonomous medical teaching institution founded by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh. It was officially established on February 15, 2016.
