Cybersecurity Jobs Surge By 14% In The Past Year, Bengaluru Leads In Openings: Report

A 14% rise in cybersecurity job postings was reported over the past year, with Bengaluru leading at 10% of openings.

Mumbai: A growing emphasis on data security has driven a 14 percent rise in job postings for cybersecurity professionals over the past year, according to a report released on Tuesday. The report by global job platform Indeed is based on job posting and click data from September 2023 to September 2024, news agency PTI reported.

“With our lives increasingly moving online, companies are prioritizing data protection, which is fueling the demand for cybersecurity experts. This is a rapidly growing field with ample opportunities,” said Sashi Kumar, Indeed India's Head of Sales, referencing the report.

Cybersecurity job postings surged by 14 percent over the past year, reflecting a higher demand for skilled professionals, he noted.

Bengaluru continues to lead the country in cybersecurity job openings, making up almost 10 percent of listings, followed by Delhi-NCR (4 percent), remote jobs (2.2 percent), Hyderabad (2 percent), and Mumbai (2 percent).

Bengaluru’s prominence is tied to its status as India’s leading tech hub, hosting major IT companies, startups, and global firms, the report highlighted.

With the expansion of digital operations, businesses in the city are increasing their focus on cybersecurity, resulting in a significant rise in demand for professionals.

Delhi-NCR ranks second with 4 percent of the job postings, due to its role as a key corporate center, home to numerous multinational companies, government agencies, and financial institutions, the report added.
