Himachal Pradesh Technical University Gives Nod To Dual Degree Programmes

HPTU has given its approval for the commencement of Ph.D. programmes in engineering colleges and the establishment of research centers at two affiliated colleges.

The Academic Council of Himachal Pradesh Technical University has approved the proposal of initiating dual degree programmes under the National Education Policy, 2020, for the benefit of its students, a spokesperson of the varsity said. The 33rd meeting of the university's academic council, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Shashi Kumar Dhiman, resulted in the approval of introducing dual degree programmes for students, as reported by PTI. Under this decision, students are now eligible to enroll in dual degree programmes such as Bachelor of Technology and Master of Technology (B.Tech-M.Tech), and Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration (BBA-MBA) in colleges affiliated with the university, as mentioned by the spokesperson.

Furthermore, the academic council has also granted permission for the establishment of research centers at Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College, Sundernagar, and Hydro Engineering College, Bilaspur.

Additionally, to foster research in the engineering field, the university has decided to initiate Ph.D. programmes in engineering colleges. To facilitate this, a committee has been formed by the academic council and instructions have been issued to define the rules and regulations for the Ph.D. programmes.

Bihar Governor Appoints Six New Vice-Chancellors

Six universities in Bihar have recently appointed new vice-chancellors, as confirmed by Governor-cum-Chancellor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar after consulting with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday. The Governor holds the position of Chancellor in the state-run universities. A statement released by the Raj Bhavan on the same day announced the appointment of six vice-chancellors for various universities in Bihar. These appointments were made based on the recommendations provided by a search committee.

"Those who have been appointed as VCs are: Sanjay Kumar Choudhary (Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga), Laxmi Niwas Pandey ( Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University, Darbhanga), Bimlendu Shekhar Jha (B N Mandal University, Madhepura), Dinesh Chandra Rai (Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur), Pramendra Kumar (Jai Prakash University, Chapra) and Sharad Kumar Yadav (Aryabhatta University, Patna)", said the statement.
