Himachal Pradesh: HPPSC Exam Rescheduled To August 20 Due To Heavy Rains

Owing to the closure of roads and highways in several parts of the state due to heavy rains and floods, the HPPSC has cancelled the HPPSC Exam which was scheduled to be held on July 23, 2023.

In the wake of heavy rains and floods in several parts of the state, the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has rescheduled the HPPSC Prelims Exam which was scheduled to be held on July 23. The rescheduled HPPSC Prelims Exam will now be held on August 20. “Consequent upon widespread damage to the roads caused due to unprecedented rains and in view of bad weather, the Commission has decided to re-schedule the said examination,” news agency ANI quoted the HPPSC secretary as saying. 

Earlier today, the HPPSC also released a prees note announcing the cancellation and rescheduling of the HPPSC exam. The commission cancelled the HPSC Prelims Examination due to the closure of roads and highways in several parts of the state because of floods and heavy rainfall in the state, disrupting connectivity from one one region to another within the state. The HPPSC notified the cancellation of the exams through an official press note today, July 11, 2023.

“Apropos of this Commission's notice dated 31-05-2023 whereby it was notified that Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service Competitive (Preliminary) Examination-2023 would be conducted on 23-07-2023. Consequent upon widespread damage to the roads caused due to unprecedented rains and in view of bad weather, the Commission has decided to re-schedule the said examination. Therefore, it is for the information of all concerned that now the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service Competitive (Preliminary) Examination-2023 will be held on 20' August, 2023;” reads the official press note. 

 

In the past few days, continued heavy rainfall has caused severe damage and disrupted everyday lives of people across several parts of the state. Besides causing chaos and trapping several tourists across the state, the flash floods following cloud burst in Thunag yesterday have caused severe damage to life and property in the state. Several houses, bridges, and parts of markets have been washed away by the floods in areas like Mandi, Kullu, Manali, Kasol, and others. The continuous rain followed by flash floods has also led to alarming increase in the water level of Beas river which ahs been flowing furiously across the state causing heavy loss of lives and property. Following the disaster, schools and colleges across the state were closed on July 10 and 11.
