The GPSSB has cancelled the Gujarat Panchayat Junior Clerk Exam following exam paper leak. The GPSSB has said that it will conduct the exam afresh at the earliest.

The Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board has cancelled the Gujarat Panchayat Junior Clerk Exam 2023 due to exam paper leak. The exam was cancelled hours before it was scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, January 29, 2023. The police have also arrested a suspect in the question paper leak incident.

Around 9.5 lakh registered candidates were set to appear for the exam for 1195 Gujarat Panchayat Junior Clerk post. The exam was scheduled to be held at 2,995 exam centres across the state, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon, on January 29, 2023.

“Based on a tip-off, police detained a suspect and recovered a copy of the question paper of the exam early Sunday morning, after which the Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board decided to "postpone" the exam in the wider interest of the candidates,” the board was quoted saying by PTI.

As per the information received from the police early Sunday morning, they detained a suspect and upon his interrogation seized a copy of the question paper from his possession," the board was further quoted saying by PTI.

While announcing the cancellation of the Gujarat Panchayat Junior Clerk Examination, the board expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the candidates and asked them not to go to the examination centres.

"The examination will be conducted afresh at the earliest, for which the board will issue a new advertisement," the board has said in an official statement. Meanwhile, Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi has claimed that this is the 15th government exam to be cancelled in Gujarat in the past 12 years due to exam paper leak.

"The government claims to be taking strict action, but the main culprits have not even been arrested. The government is playing with the future of youth of the state," Doshi was quoted saying by PTI.
