Delhi Govt Mulls Hybrid Learning Mode For Schools To Cope-Up With Bad Weather Conditions

Delhi education minister Atishi has reportedly asked officials to draft a hybrid learning for Delhi schools, by bringing together Delhi’s virtual and physical school models.

The AAP-led Delhi government is mulling to introduce a hybrid schooling model for Delhi schools. The new hybrid schooling model finds its place in works under the Delhi government in the light of weather, cold and heat waves, and pollution. In this regard, Delhi education minister Atishi on Saturday directed officials to come up with a hybrid learning plan for Delhi schools. The officials were further directed to chalk out the plan by bringing it together with the Delhi Model Virtual Schools (DMVS) programme and the physical school model of the Delhi government, news agency PTI reported an official statement as saying.

The development takes shape considering the push of the Delhi government to ensure that the regular education of a child is not hampered due to bad weather conditions. She further said. "Schooling in Delhi gets frequently disturbed due to adverse weather like heat waves during summer and fog in winter,” she said.

“Through DMVS, we will make all Delhi government schools hybrid so that our children's education does not suffer from the vagaries of weather. For those children who cannot reach school, the Delhi government is taking the finest education to them through DMVS," Atishi said.

What started in the year 2022 by the AAP government, the DMVS presently offers virtual schooling in classes 9 to 12 and supports students of the Delhi government with test preparations for exams like NEET, JEE and CUET.

In the meantime, the Delhi government in an official order directed Delhi schools running morning and general shift classes to remain closed for tomorrow. However, schools with evening shifts will remain open. The move from the Delhi government follows the lines of other state governments like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Goa, Jharkhand, Tripura, which announced a public holiday on January 22, to mark the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya.
