CU Common Entrance Test: Common Entrance Test of central universities will now be held in many languages. Now, there will be a common entrance test and not a separate examination.

Central Universities Common Entrance Test: During the ongoing winter session in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State in the Union Ministry of Education informed that the entrance examinations (Admission Exams) for central universities will be conducted on the basis of a common university entrance test in different languages. It has been prepared by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Major competitive examinations will be conducted in these scheduled languages.

  • NEET UG 2021 in Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and Punjabi.
  • JEE Main 2021 in Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, and Gujarati.
  • All India Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE) 2021 for Class VI in Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Punjabi, Telugu, and Urdu.

12 Central Universities Conducted CUCET 2021

The decision taken by the Education Ministry is also being implemented. This year 12 Central Universities including Assam University in Silchar, Central University of Gujarat, Central University of Punjab, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Central University of Jharkhand, and the Central University of Kerala conducted CUCET 2021.

The National Testing Agency conducts these examinations. For conducting the CUCET examination successfully, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had recently asked the Vice-Chancellors of Central Universities to take appropriate measures.

The examination will be conducted by the NTA.  The UGC has also said that the common admission for UG and PG can be conducted from the academic session 2022-23. Wherever possible, the NET score will be used for admission to Ph.D.

A seven-member committee has been constituted by the UGC to inquire about the ongoing procedures of CUCET from those central universities.  In December last year, the UGC asked them to adopt the National Policy on Education (NEP) 2020. The committee will inquire about the procedures of CUCET for admission to all UG programs offered by all such central universities.
