Brought reforms that improved state of education in Rajasthan: CM Vasundhara Raje

Speaking at a function here on the occasion of Teachers' Day here, she said the condition of the education sector was poor when her government was formed.

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said on Wednesday that major education sector reforms brought by her government were behind enhanced enrolment in public schools and improved results. Speaking at a function here on the occasion of Teachers' Day here, she said the condition of the education sector was poor when her government was formed. "When we took over the reins, the state was on the 26th position in the country in education, but today, the state stands at number 2," Raje said in the function at Amroodon Ka Bagh near the Assembly building. She said enrolment in government schools has increased and results have improved during her government's tenure. "Due to the efforts made by the government, students studying in private schools are now shifting to government schools. This is the impact of what the government has done in the education sector," the chief minister said. "When we came to power, 50 per cent of the teachers' posts were vacant. After we came to power, we appointed 78,000 teachers. We brought down the percentage of vacant posts from 50 per cent to 20 per cent," she said, adding, that a few thousand teachers would also be given appointment soon. Teachers from all over the district attended the function.
