Threat Of CBI, ED Raids Or Bribe Of Rs 25 Crore Cannot Break AAP MLAs: Delhi CM Kejriwal

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made the remarks while he tabled a motion of confidence to prove majority in the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said threats by central agencies such as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) or offering a bribe of Rs 25 crore cannot break Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made the remarks while he tabled a motion of confidence to prove majority in the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday.

He said that the Opposition members wanted to bring a no-trust vote, but could not gather support of enough MLAs. "We got to know that Opposition members wanted to bring a no-confidence motion against us. Signatures of 20 per cent members of the House are needed to bring a no-confidence motion. There are 70 members in the Delhi Assembly which means signatures of 14 members are needed," Kejriwal said while tabling the confidence motion.

He also claimed that the opposition members could not gather the support of 14 MLAs.

“Happenings inside Delhi Assembly send out positive message about democracy. The BJP is trying to trample democracy,” CM Kejriwal said.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Kejriwal said, “ED and CBI have brought all the corrupt people of the country in one party. ED-CBI raid and put a gun to their head and ask them if they want to go to jail or to BJP...The day PM Modi does not remain the PM, India will become a 'corruption-free India'...The day their government goes out of power, put BJP people behind bars, the nation would be corruption-free.”

Speaking further on the confidence motion tabled in the Assembly, CM Kejriwal said, “"We believe in democracy, so we offered BJP MLAs to speak though they could not bring a no-confidence motion against our government. We allowed them to speak. We welcome criticism. But these people only know how to fight and abuse. Leave alone 2025 assembly polls, BJP can not win even in 2050 in Delhi."

"They threatened them, tempted them, but nothing worked. They withdrew it," Kejriwal said, adding, "To counter it, I am tabling a confidence motion." He also asked the Opposition MLAs to participate in it and raise their issues.

Later, speaking to reporters after the assembly session, Kejriwal said, "Our confidence motion has won with a huge majority. People have tremendous faith in us. We are doing work for public, something that not been done in last 75 years. I thank the public for showing faith. We are fighting polls in Karnataka and I hope we get good results."
