Rape Accused Noida Executive, Who Knocked Down Security Guard To Escape Cops, Arrested: Police

The accused, identified as Neeraj Singh, works as general manager at a private company. A case was filed against Singh after a co-worker accused him of raping her.

Noida Police said on Friday that a rape-accused senior executive, who knocked down a security guard of his housing society with his SUV while trying to evade cops, was arrested from Gurugram, PTI reported. The accused, identified as Neeraj Singh, works as general manager at a private company. A case was filed against Singh at the Sector 113 Police Station after a co-worker accused him of raping her.

"Singh worked for a Gurugram-based firm. He was located with the help of electronic surveillance and manual policing-based sources and arrested today and brought to Noida from there," PTI quoted a police officer as saying.

The officer said a police team had been attempting to track Singh, who was absconding since the case was filed by the woman.

According to the officer, an FIR was filed against Singh under Indian Penal Code section 376 (rape). A police team went to Amrapali Zodiac society in Sector 120 on Tuesday to take him to custody.

"However, the accused had got the input of the police team arriving there and he escaped society immediately. In a hurry to leave, he hit security personnel of the society with his car. The whole episode of him escaping and hitting the security personnel was caught in CCTV," the local police officer was quoted as saying by PTI.

In the CCTV footage of the incident, Singh can be seen driving dangerously as his vehicle emerges from the parking. The SUV then knocks down a security guard who is seen trying to stop the vehicle. Soon, other security guards and a police officer gather around the car. However, the vehicle speeds up and escapes.

Singh was booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offences), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), police said.

"A fresh FIR was lodged against him for attacking the security personnel, Ashok Mavi, with the intention to kill him. This FIR was lodged after a complaint from Mavi, who had suffered some injuries in the incident," the officer stated further.

He was brought before a local magistrate and sent to 14-day judicial remand, according to police.
