Meanwhile, the Haryana Police on Tuesday said that mobs killed a cleric in a late-night attack on a mosque, torched an eatery and vandalised shops as communal violence that began in Haryana's Nuh spilled over into neighbouring Gurugram, taking the death toll to five, as reported by news agency PTI.
Following the clashes, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure was imposed, and police force was deployed in the area to curb the tensions. A flag march was conducted by the Rapid Action Force (RAF) in Gururgam's Badshahpur, news agency ANI reported. Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij has said that 41 FIRS have been registered in the incident. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that at least six people died in the violence and 116 people have been arrested. He further stated that the government is committed to the safety of the public and those found guilty will not be spared.
"Six people including two Home Guards and four civilians have died in the incident. 116 people have been arrested till now. Their remand is being taken. Those found guilty will not be spared. We are committed to the safety of the public. The overall situation in the state is normal. Appeal to the public to maintain peace, calm and brotherhood," said Khattar, as quoted by ANI.
