Kanjhawala Case: Men Who Dragged Woman's Body Had Borrowed Car, Two Accused Were Drunk, Says FIR
Contrary to their initial claims, the accused were allegedly aware that they had hit the woman on her scooter, reads the FIR in the case. At least two of the accused were drunk, the FIR states.
The accused in the Kanjhawala case, in which a 23-year-old woman was dragged for nearly 12 km under a car on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. New details have now been revealed in the FIR that states that at least two of the accused were drunk at the time of the incident.
Anjali, an event organizer, was riding a scooter home when the accused's car hit her vehicle. The car's occupants initially claimed that they had no idea that they had hit her two-wheeler and continued to drag her for nearly 12 kilometres from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala in Delhi. However, according to cops, the accused were indeed aware that they had hit the woman.
Anjali was riding along a small road when the car, a premium hatchback, hit her, trapping her under it. The five persons, who were travelling in the car — Deepak Khanna (26), Amit Khanna (25), Krishan (27), Mithun (26), Manoj Mittal (27) — were later arrested.
According to the Delhi Police, Deepak and Amit had borrowed the car from one of their friends around 7 pm on December 31, 2022 and parked it at their house around 5 am on January 1, 2023, states the FIR. Deepak and Amit revealed to their friend that they had hit a woman on her scooter and managed to flee the accident spot and drive to Khanjawala. They also revealed that they were drunk.

Deepak was driving the car while Manoj was sitting next to the driver. Mithun and Amit were in the backseat of the car.
They apparently discovered the body stuck under the car when they stopped near Jaunti on Kanjhawala Road. Footage from CCTV cameras along the route showed the car being casually driven around on Delhi streets with the body stuck under it.
