Hoax Bomb Call Stirs Panic At Delhi's IGI Airport, Probe Underway
A hoax call sparked a bomb scare at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday. The police are investigating the matter.
A bomb threat call received at the facility of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport caused the security personnel to go into a tizzy on Tuesday. Usha Rangnani, Deputy Commissioner of Police stated that the IGI Airport received a bomb threat call concerning a flight from Delhi to Kolkata at around 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday. However, after the inquiry, it turned out to be a hoax call.
The top police official stated that even then all the necessary protocols were followed at the airport to ensure the security of passengers.
Following the incident, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the probe into the matter is also underway, DCP stated.
A few days ago a 20-year-old was apprehended for allegedly making a hoax call regarding a bomb implanted at the Delhi airport. The accused, identified as Kushagra Aggarwal, a resident of West Delhi's Janakpuri, had made the call just to gain publicity, IANS reported.
Another 38-year-old man hailing from Bihar's West Champaran was arrested on February 18 in Delhi's Kapashera for allegedly making a threat call to blow up the IGI Airport on January 28.

In a similar incident on January 24, a full emergency was declared at Delhi's IGI Airport at 5:50 pm after a bomb threat call was received by the control room concerning a SpiceJet flight from Darbhanga to Delhi. However, it turned out to be a bogus call during the inquiry.
After the flight landed at the airport the passengers were deboarded safely and the aircraft was parked in isolation bay for screening. Although it was a hoax call, all the necessary safety protocols were followed to ensure the security of passengers.
