From Health To Security And Aesthetic Makeover, Preparation For G20 Summit In Full Swing — Top Points

Preparations for the upcoming G20 Summit are in full swing with just a week left for the world leaders to grace the centre stage being hosted by India. Planning at all fronts from security to health and beautification of the national capital is being implemented to ensure that the summit takes place smoothly on September 9 and 10. On Tuesday, the Delhi Police banned the use of sub-conventional aerial platforms upto September 12. Ram Manohar Lohia hospital also said that it is ready to tackle medical emergencies during the summit. 

On Tuesday, Delhi minister Atishi inspected Lodhi Road and Pragati Maidan stretch to check the arrangements ahead of the G20 summit. 

  • Use of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircrafts, remotely piloted aircrafts, hot air balloons, small sized powered aircrafts, quadcopters or even by para-jumping have been banned in the national capital till September 12. 
  • “It has been reported that certain criminal, anti-social elements or terrorists inimical to India may pose a threat to the safety of the general public, dignitaries and vital installations by the use of sub-conventional aerial platforms, ” said an order released on Tuesday. 
  • On the health front, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital Director Ajay Shukla said that 50 beds have been arranged in general ward of the hospital, and there will be four minimum ICU beds and it might also increase. 
  • In addition, the hospital will also have an arrangement of five private rooms, he added. 
  • Over 100 ambulances will be deployed at various locations during the summit including  Bharat Mandapam (G20 venue at Pragati Maidan), hotels as well as different locations, Shukla said. 
  • Delhi minister Atishi inspected the Lodhi Road and Pragati Maidan stretch and said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal envisions a cleaner and more beautiful Delhi. 
  • “Today, I inspected Lodhi Road, a vital part of Central Delhi. PWD has completely transformed this stretch with contemporary design and architecture. The addition of fountains, modern street sculptures, lighting, state-of-the-art furniture, green spaces, and a walking path has made the road aesthetically appealing. As Delhi will welcome the G20 delegates soon, we aspire to showcase our finest work to them,” she said.
