Ex-Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia's Bungalow Allotted To New Minister Atishi
The residence of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been handed over to Atishi, who was appointed to the Cabinet earlier this month.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's residence has been handed to Atishi, who was inducted into the Cabinet earlier this month, more than a fortnight after his detention by the CBI in the Delhi excise policy case, news agency PTI reported on Friday.
According to an official letter sent by the Public Works Department on March 14, Atishi has been ordered to respond within eight days of the letter's issuance, the report said.
Sisodia was residing at the AB-17 house on Mathura Road, which former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had previously occupied.
The bungalow was handed to Sisodia when the AAP government took power in Delhi in 2015.
"It is a routine exercise. Since Sisodia had resigned, his bungalow will be reallotted to Atishi, "claimed a government official, PTI reported.
According to the letter, Sisodia has been asked to vacate the home by March 21.
According to the letter, the relevant rules allow for only a 15-day retention period.
With the resignations of Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, who are both presently jailed in Tihar for suspected corruption and money laundering, two Cabinet vacancies arose.
Afterward, Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj were appointed to the Cabinet.
On February 26, Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in connection with suspected corruption in creating and implementing the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy for 2021-22. He is being held in judicial custody until March 20.
Last week, the newly appointed Delhi ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi took over their portfolios in the Delhi government.
Atishi is in charge of education, PWD, electricity, and tourism, while Bharadwaj is in charge of health, urban development, water, and industries.
The portfolios were assigned shortly after Kalkaji MLA Atishi and Greater Kailash legislator Bharadwaj took the oath of office and secrecy from Delhi LG VK Saxena.
