Delhi Sees Sudden Weather Change, Rain With Thunderstorms Bring Respite On Holi

IMD on Tuesday predicted Delhi to see partly cloudy skies on Holi, even as the maximum temperature in the national capital settled at 31.3 degrees Celsius.

Warm weather took a turn when parts of Delhi on the day of Holi, Wednesday, were lashed with a bout of rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The sudden change of weather in Delhi brings respite from the rising heat. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi was predicted to log a minimum temperature of 15.4 degrees Celsius on Holi and the maximum temperature was predicted to settle at 31 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday, IMD had predicted Delhi to see partly cloudy skies on Holi, even as the maximum temperature in the national capital settled at 31.3 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, PTI reported.

According to recent IMD data, the average maximum temperature in Delhi during February this year was recorded at 27.7 degrees Celsius. This was the third-highest temperature in the past 63 years.

Additionally, the Indian Meteorological Department reported that the country experienced its warmest February on record, with maximum temperatures reaching 29.54 degrees Celsius.

Furthermore, the meteorological office has stated that there is an increased likelihood of heat waves occurring from March to May.
