Delhi Services Bill To Be Tabled For Consideration And Passage In Rajya Sabha On Monday: Report
Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi is likely to initiate the debate over Delhi Services Bill from the Opposition side in Rajya Sabha.
New Delhi: The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 is likely to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passage on Monday, news agency PTI quoted sources as saying. "The Delhi services Bill will come up in Rajya Sabha on Monday. Voting for the passage of the bill will be held the same day in the evening after the conclusion of a discussion on the Bill," the source told the news agency.
Delhi Services Bill, which seeks to replace a May 19 Ordinance brought by the Centre with regard to control of Services in the national capital, was passed by Lok Sabha, as Opposition parties staged a walkout on Thursday.
According to the PTI report, senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi is likely to initiate the debate from the Opposition side in Rajya Sabha.
Notably, Singhvi had represented the AAP government during the Supreme Court proceedings on the control of administrative services in the national capital.

Meanwhile, on Friday, some leaders of the Opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc met Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi to discuss on a way to end the ongoing deadlock over the Manipur issue.
They said the government is ready to hold a discussion over the issue but it depends on Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar under which rule the discussion would be held, PTI reported.
"The opposition members have been urged to share the draft of their proposal for the discussion on the Manipur issue. They are yet to share the draft. Let's see if it comes on Monday," PTI quoted a source as saying.
According to the report, during the meeting, the Opposition leaders also sought the revocation of suspension of Congress MP Rajani Patil.
