Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi's Facebook Account Recovered After Hackers Posted Obscene Photos

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi claimed that her Facebook account has been hacked.

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Friday claimed that her Facebook account had been hacked. Speaking on the matter, an official of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) said that Oberoi's account was hacked four to five days ago. "The mayor's Facebook account was hacked four to five days ago and she has lost access to it, the official said. After hours of effort, her Social media team was able to retrieve access to the account.

Speaking to news agency ANI, the Delhi Mayor informed that she was not able to access her account for a week and added, "Yesterday we suddenly saw obscene pictures and videos posted on it by someone who had hacked it. We came to know about it around 9 pm yesterday...Social media team worked on it the entire night".

"My Facebook page was recovered this afternoon and we now have access to it. But I think cybercrime is on the rise across the world. Technology is both beneficial as well as harmful. We would want that there should be an update so that hackers are not able to misuse it," she remarked.

Earlier in the day, she informed about the hacking incident on X.

"This is to inform all that I've been unable to access my Facebook page since a few days, it has been hacked. We're trying to recover it as soon as possible. If there is any unusual activity through my page, please be aware of it," she posted at 8:45 pm.
