Traffic Snarls At Delhi Borders Amid Tight Security Ahead Of Farmers Protest March

Amid the high security at the Delhi borders, traffic snarls were witnessed at the Delhi-Noida and Chilla borders on Thursday.

New Delhi: As farmers plan to march towards the national capital to protest against the land acquisition policies, traffic was hit in some areas of the national capital. Traffic snarls were witnessed at the Delhi-Noida and Chilla borders on Thursday as security was heightened at the Delhi borders in view of the farmers' protest march.

According to a police official, Section 144 has been imposed, and all the borders have been sealed for 24 hours. Heavy security has been deployed at all borders, the official further stated.

Earlier in the day, DIG, Addl. CP (L&O), Shivhari Meena said that heavy security has been deployed at all the borders and arrangements have been made so that the people do not face any trouble. "Section 144 has been imposed & all the borders have been sealed for 24 hours. Heavy security deployment at all the borders. Arrangements have been made so that the people do not face any trouble. Security has been heightened. We are in talks with the farmers...All the vehicles are being checked," Shivhari Meena told news agency ANI.

 Farmers Protest March

The farmers groups in Noida and Greater Noida have been on protest since December 2023., According to PTI, the groups have been seeking a hike in compensation and developed plots against their land acquired by the local development authorities in the past.
