Delhi Crime Branch Reaches Kejriwal's Residence To Serve Notice Over 'MLA Poaching' Claims: Report

Earlier last week, Arvind Kejriwal took to X and claimed that seven of his party MLAs were contacted by the BJP.

New Delhi: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrived at the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday to serve him notice over his recent claim that the BJP was trying to poach seven AAP MLAs. The AAP national convenor was asked to provide evidence to back his claim, news agency ANI quoted its sources as saying.

According to reports, the Delhi Crime Branch also went to the residence of minister Atishi. However, neither Kejriwal nor Atishi were present.

Earlier last week, Kejriwal took to X and claimed that seven of his party MLAs were contacted by the BJP. In his post, he wrote that his party is aware of the fact that the BJP has got in touch with seven AAP MLAs who quoted a BJP leader as saying, “We will arrest Kejriwal after a few days. After that, we will break away the MLAs. Talks have been held with 21 MLAs. We are talking to others as well. We will topple the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi. You can also come. Will give Rs 25 crore each and contest the elections on BJP ticket.”

The BJP, however, countered saying the allegations were false and termed it as a desperate move by Kejriwal to remain “politically alive”.

“This shows how much politically desperate Kejriwal has become. This unfounded allegation by him is an attempt to keep himself politically alive. The allegation that the BJP wants to break away MLAs of the ruling AAP, having 62 out of 70 MLAs in Delhi, shows his mental bankruptcy,” news agency PTI quoted Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva as saying.

Sachdeva further said that they had registered a complaint with the police over Kejriwal's allegations.

The Delhi Crime Branch showed up at the AAP convenor’s residence at a time when he skipped five ED summons in connection with the Delhi liquor policy “scam”, calling the summons “unconstitutional”.
