Arvind Kejriwal To Visit Hanuman Mandir, Rajghat Before Surrendering In Tihar Jail Today

The Aam Aadmi Party chief will head to Tihar Jail around 3 PM as his 21-day interim bail in the Delhi liquor policy case ended on June 1.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that he would visit Mahatma Gandhi's memorial at Rajghat and the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place before surrendering to the Tihar Jail. The Aam Aadmi Party chief will head to Tihar Jail around 3 PM as his 21-day interim bail in the Delhi liquor policy case ended on June 1.

A Delhi court also put off its order regarding Kejriwal's plea seeking interim bail on medical grounds until June 5.

Ahead of surrendering today, Arvind Kejriwal thanked the Supreme Court for for granting him a 21-day interim bail, allowing him to campaign for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. "On the orders of the Honorable Supreme Court, I came out for 21 days for election campaigning. Many thanks to the Honorable Supreme Court," he wrote on X.

"Today, I will go to Tihar to surrender. I will leave home at 3 PM. First, I will go to Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. From there, I will go to Hanuman Temple at Connaught Place to seek blessings from Lord Hanuman. After that, I will go to the party office to meet all the workers and party leaders. From there, I will leave for Tihar," Kejriwal tweeted.

"Take care of yourselves. I will be concerned about all of you while I am in jail. If you remain happy, your Kejriwal will also be happy in jail. Jai Hind!," the Delhi CM added.

On Saturday, Kejriwal also held a meeting of the AAP's political affairs committee at his residence, from where he went to attend a meeting of the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc.

During the meeting, he stressed the need to maintain unity among AAP leaders in his absence, news agency PTI reported citing its sources.

The meeting came as ABP C Voter exit polls predicted another win by the NDA in the national capital in the Lok Sabha polls.

As per the ABP-Cvoter survey results, NDA is projected to secure 353-383 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. In Delhi, the NDA is predicted to win 4-6 seats, while the I.N.D.I.A bloc is predicted to win 1-3 seats.

Last week, Kejriwal approached the Supreme Court, seeking a week-long extension of the interim bail on the basis of medical grounds.

In his plea, the AAP chief had claimed that he needed time to undergo tests since he was losing weight and was having high ketone levels. However, the apex court registry refused to list his plea urgently.

Thereafter, he moved the special CBI-ED court seeking interim bail, which reserved its order for June 5.
