'Will Harm NDA In Bihar, Benefit I.N.D.I.A. Bloc': Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal On Nitish Kumar's Move

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday voiced his disapproval of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's decision to exit the I.N.D.I.A bloc, calling his conduct wrong for democracy. As per PTI, Kejriwal made the remark at a presser responding to a question about CM Nitish forming a new government in alliance with the BJP in Bihar. "I feel this is wrong and he should not have left. Such conduct is not good for democracy", said Kejriwal.

"According to what I have gauged from the public opinion, the NDA will be harmed instead of gaining from this move. The results will ultimately reveal the situation, but I will that NDA will suffer a loss in Bihar while the I.N.D.I.A. bloc will see gains," he added.

Citing the Chandigarh mayoral polls, he said, "Pray for the I.N.D.I.A. bloc to see its first electoral gains in Chandigarh polls. The results will also come out tomorrow."

Besides JD(U), RJD, Congress, and Left parties were the other constituents of the previous Mahagathbandhan government.

Nitish Kumar on Sunday resigned as Bihar's Chief Minister, saying "things were not working well for him in the 'Mahagathbandhan' or the grand alliance and the opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A", and formed a new government with the BJP, which he had dumped less than 18 months ago. The JD(U) later defined his return to the NDA as "back to where I was" and claimed that he will remain with the alliance, reported PTI.

The exit of Nitish Kumar, a key figure in the Mahagathbandhan, has undoubtedly dealt a blow to the opposition's unity. The I.N.D.I.A bloc, comprising JD(U), RJD, Congress, and Left parties, now faces the challenge of redefining its strategy and rebuilding trust among its constituents

The AAP is part of the I.N.D.I.A bloc and is in seat-sharing talks with Congress for five states -- Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat, Goa, and Haryana. The Punjab units of both Congress and AAP have ruled out any alliance between the parties in the state for upcoming Lok Sabha polls, though a final decision is yet to be announced.

 

While Nitish Kumar's alignment with the BJP may have provided him with a new political equation in Bihar, it also poses challenges. The sudden shift in alliances could impact his standing among the electorate and trigger discussions about political opportunism.
