'Bigger Than Liquor Scam': BJP Stages Protest At Delhi Jal Board Office Over 'Corruption' In Tender Allotment
BJP accused Delhi Jal Board of running a “scam” by awarding bogus tenders for the upgradation of its sewerage treatment plants.
Leaders and workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday staged a protest against the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government accusing it of corruption in the Delhi Jal Board. The party members who protested outside the DJB office accused the water board of running a “scam” by awarding bogus tenders for the upgradation of its sewerage treatment plants, reported PTI.
The DJB “scam” is bigger than the “liquor scam”, said Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva. The liquor scam is the alleged irregularities in the implementation of now-scrapped excise policy in the national capital which has seen the jailing of several AAP leaders, including deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia.
Sachdeva alleged that there were many instances at the DJB where no work was done against the tenders that were issued and the payments that were made, the PTI report added.
The Delhi BJP president said that the party workers will go door-to-door in the city and expose the AAP government-run agency’s corruption.

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly and BJP leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, who was also present at the protest demanded a CBI probe into the alleged corruption.
Bidhuri alleged that a meeting of the DJB where the tenders were approved was attended by Manish Sisodia and Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj with several AAP MLAs as members of the panel.

Another sit-in protest was staged by women counsellors of Congress party outside Mayor Shelly Oberoi's office over alleged "sexist" comments passed against them by a councillor during the MCD House meeting.
The counsellors also demanded an open apology from the member and his suspension.
After the protest went on for nearly two hours, the mayor and leader of the House Mukesh Goel met the women councillors and assured them that the recording of the House would be checked to identify the accused and action would be taken for the derogatory remarks, an MCD official said, reported PTI.
