'Bid To Derail CM Kejriwal's Efforts': New Turn In AAP Vs Delhi L-G Saga, Gahlot Blames Saxena For 'Slow Work'
Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot accused LG Saxena of trying to stall the work being done by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and asserted their work will soon be “back on track”.
New Delhi: Hitting out at Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said the disengagements of consultants and officials on the “directions” of the L-G was responsible for the slow progress of work in his department, news agency PTI reported. He further accused LG Saxena of trying to stall the work being done by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and asserted their work will soon be “back on track”.
Speaking to PTI, the Delhi Transport Minister said, “Disengagement of fellows and consultants following LG Saxena’s directions affected work on several policies of the Delhi Transport Department. The speed of work has reduced, but we will soon be back on track.”
“I think somewhere there is an attempt to derail or stop the good work being done under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, but we are committed to not let the work stop,” Gahlot further told the news agency.
The minister further said that in a first, CM Kejriwal-led government in Delhi has invited bids to deploy 3000 electric high speed and low speed scooters, e cycles to boost first and last mile connectivity in Dwarka sub city.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kailash Gahlot posted, “The first and last mile is as much of a backbone to public transport, as public transport is, to a livable city. In a first, Delhi government under the leadership of CM @arvindkejriwal invites bids for deploying 3000 electric high speed and low speed scooters, e cycles for first and last mile connectivity in Dwarka sub city. I request all e-scooter and e-cycle service providers to actively come forward and join us in ensuring efficient end-to-end connectivity to our citizens!”

The minister also announced that the upcoming Electric Vehicles Policy 2.0 will address the issue of incentivising retrofitting of vehicles, given its high cost.
“We are moving a cabinet note and within this week it should be finalised. The existing policy will be extended for six months or until the new policy is notified,” Gahlot said in an interview with PTI.
