'Accidents Or Murders': AAP Hits Back After BJP's Claim Of 203 'Deaths Due To Cold' In Delhi

Accusing the saffron party of “spreading lies”, Saurabh Bharadwaj said the data presented by the BJP MLAs are of November when the weather remains moderate in Delhi.

New Delhi: As the BJP targeted Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government over the homeless people in Delhi dying allegedly due to cold in the winter season, minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said the Opposition party is showing November data when the temperate remains moderate. Delhi Assembly session witnessed political heat after the Opposition BJP alleged that 203 people died in the national capital due to the cold.

Accusing the saffron party of “spreading lies”, Bharadwaj said the data presented by the BJP MLAs are of November when the weather remains moderate in Delhi. He further said it is clear from the photos that the people were either killed in road accidents or were murdered.

Speaking to news agency ANI, the Delhi minister said, “The documents that they (BJP MLAs) presented in the House show the data from the beginning of November. It is clearly visible in the photos that these people died either in road accidents or in a murder because of the injury marks visible. The cold in Delhi began a week back. Delhi has no cold in November. This is not the data of the deaths due to cold. The BJP is spreading lies.”

The AAP minister further took potshots at the BJP, saying the Central government and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) have rendered several people homeless by demolishing the slums.

“Centre and DDA are rendering people homeless by demolishing slums and JJ Cluster houses in Delhi in winter. Has the BJP government and their organisations ever thought about how these children will go to school? According to law, the government cannot demolish houses without making alternative arrangements,” Bharadwaj said while speaking to the media.
