UP: Police Deployment Beefed Up After Protests Over Prayagraj Schoolboy's Murder By Classmates
As per the police, the boy was beaten to death by fellow students after he tried to stop a molestation attempt on his cousin on their way back home from school in Prayagraj's Kheri village.
Police and Rapid Action Force teams have been deployed in heavy numbers outside a school in Kheri village near Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj where a class 10th student was allegedly beaten to death by fellow students when he opposed an attempt to molest his cousin. The 15-year-old boy was beaten to death with sticks and his family claimed that he was attacked because he resisted a molestation attempt on his cousin, said the police on Tuesday, as per a PTI report.
Local residents took to the streets to protest after the killing on Monday following which additional police force was called as the incident began to take communal colour, the report added.
According to Kheri police station SHO Naveen Kumar Singh, the family members alleged that some youths attacked the class 10th student when he tried to stop a molestation attempt on his cousin as the two were returning from school.

The boy was taken to hospital in a serious condition where he was declared dead there, the report added.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Yamuna Nagar) Santosh Kumar Meena, however, said that there was a brawl between the children at the school and that the teachers had intervened and pacified the situation.
But their fight was on the way after they left the school, he added.

A case has been registered on the basis of a complaint filed by the family and three people have been detained, Meena added.
The SHO said that the police teams are trying to nab two people named in the FIR who have been identified as Yusuf and Mohsin.
According to the police, the local people had blocked a road for sometime after the incident but were later cleared away.
