Chopped Limbs In Bucket, Boiled Body Parts In Cooker: Shraddha Walkar Murder Rerun In Mumbai

A 56-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his live-in partner and chopping her body into pieces. He also boiled several of her body parts in a pressure cooker.

More and More gory details are surfacing in Maharashtra's Mira Road murder case, in which a 32-year-old woman was murdered and chopped into pieces, allegedly by her 56-year-old live-in partner at their rented accommodation at Mira Road in Mumbai. Police said she was killed two-three days ago.

The murder was discovered by the police after neighbours of the Geeta Akash Deep Building Flat J-704 complained of an unbearable stench. According to sources, 56-year-old Manoj Sane allegedly killed his live-in partner Saraswati Vaidya (36) and then chopped her body into pieces. He put the small pieces in buckets and kept the blood. A tree-cutting machine (similar to a saw) was also found in the bedroom.

POLICE FIND ONLY FEET, A FEW OTHER BODY PARTS

The police found three buckets of blood and body parts. They also found the body parts in a pressure cooker. The accused purportedly confessed to the police that he cut up the body into pieces with the help of the tree cutter. The pieces were then boiled in a pressure cooker or ground in a mixer. Sane allegedly chopped the body into 20 pieces. Police could find only Vaidya’s feet and a few other body parts.

The summer heat only quickened the decomposition and the stench made it extremely difficult for the cops to carry out the recovery operation. There was no refrigerator in the house. And it appeared that Sane tried to keep the odour at bay using air fresheners. Police arrested Sane on Wednesday night.

"The local police received information of a foul smell emanating from a flat. After the lock was broken, police found chopped pieces of a body in utensils and buckets. The accused has been arrested," says Mumbai DCP Jayant Bajbale said. A Thane court on Thursday remanded Sane to police custody till June 16.

The incident was a reminder of the grisly Delhi murder case, in which call centre employee Shraddha Walkar was murdered and chopped into pieces allegedly by her live-in partner Aftab Poonawala, who was a chef at a hotel. The body parts were then stored in a refrigerator. Every night, Aftab would take out a few pieces and dispose them off in a nearby forest.
