Mumbai Hit-And-Run: 18-Yr-Old Dies As Speeding SUV Rams Into Bike In Dahisar
The accident took place on Friday at 4 pm, when three friends, Karan Rajput, Aditya, and Piyush Shukla, were riding to Kandivali from Dahisar on two motorcycles.
A biker was killed and the pillion rider injured on Friday as an SUV crashed into their motorcycle in Mumbai’s Dahisar. The accident took place at 4 pm. According to a report by India Today, three friends, Karan Rajput, Aditya and Piyush Shukla, were riding to Kandivali from Dahisar on two motorcycles, with Karan and Aditya on the same bike.
When they reached the Shailendra High School bridge, a speeding car hit Karan’s bike, leaving both him and Aditya with severe injuries. Karan, who was critically injured, lost consciousness, reported India Today. Following the accident, the car sped away, leaving the injured lying there. Aditya and Piyush managed to take Karan to a hospital, where he died during treatment.
According to India Today, Dahisar Police said they had registered a case, and were actively searching for the driver responsible for the hit-and-run incident.
Goregaon Hit-And-Run
The case comes about two weeks after a 24-year-old milk vendor died in Mumbai's Goregaon when a speeding SUV driven by a teenage boy knocked down his two-wheeler. The SUV, driven by a 17-year-old, was allegedly travelling in the wrong direction when it hit the victim, Navin Vaishnaw, reported PTI.
Police subsequently detained the minor driving the SUV. "As the accused driver is 17 years old, a case was also registered against the SUV owner Iqbal Jivani, 48, and his son Mohammed Faz Iqbal Jivani, 21," news agency PTI quoted a police official as saying. The accused is a friend of the SUV owner’s son, who was also reportedly present in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
A case has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act, and further investigation is underway.
