UP Man Slits Girlfriend's Throat For 'Betrayal', Says 'Death Is the Only Punishment'

A man from Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district killed his girlfriend by slitting her throat on suspicion that she was betraying him.

A shocking incident has been reported from Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr where a man killed his his girlfriend by slitting her throat on suspicion of betrayal, said the police on Thursday. Adnan, alias Ballu claimed that his girlfriend betrayed him, hence he took her life.

The body of the woman, identified as Asma was found in the graveyard of Maholla Khirkhani under the jurisdiction of Khurja Nagar Kotwali area, with deep wounds on her neck caused by a sharp weapon, said Khurja Circle Officer, Varun Singh, as per ABP News sources. 

Upon discovering the body, locals informed the police about the incident. Upon reaching the spot, police took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem, said the CO adding that an investigation into the matter has been initiated.

It was revealed that Asma was in a romantic relationship with Adnan, who is accused of her murder and the two used to meet in the cemetery. Adnan said he had provided Asma with a new mobile phone as her old one had connectivity issues. However, whenever he used to call Asma, her phone remained busy, leading Adnan to suspect that she was talking to someone else.

Furious, Adnan called Asma to the cemetery and allegedly murdered her by slitting her throat with a knife.  

When questioned by the police, Adnan confessed to the crime, the police official said.

Responding to queries by media personnel on why he killed Asma and if he regrets if, Adnan said: "In love, betrayal warrants only one punishment - death, by slicing the throat with a knife."

"I spent my entire earning of two and a half years and she got stuck with another friend. Betrayed in love, I couldn't bear it," he added.
