Kanjhawala Case: 40 Injuries, Open Skull, Fractured Spine — Autopsy Reveals Chilling Details Of Accident

The post-mortem was conducted by a team of three doctors at Maulana Azad Medical College.

New Delhi: Open skull, fractured spine and ribs “exposed from the back of the chest"- are some of the findings of the autopsy conducted on the 20-year-old girl, who was dragged to death on New Year after her two-wheeler was hit by a car in Delhi's Sultanpuri area.

The post-mortem conducted by a team of three doctors at Maulana Azad Medical College declared “shock and haemorrhage as a result of antemortem injury to the head, spine, left femur and both lower limbs” as the provisional cause of death.

“All injuries collectively can cause death in ordinary course of nature. However, injury to the head, spine, long bones and other injuries can cause death independently and collectively in ordinary course of nature. All injuries produced by blunt force impact and possible with vehicular accident and dragging,” the report stated. “However, final opinion will be given after receipt of chemical analysis and biological sample reports.”

The victim, identified as Anjali Singh, died in the early hours of Sunday after her scooty was hit by a car. After being hit, the body became entangled in the wheel and was dragged alongside.

The victim's body was found naked on the roadside in the Kanjhawala area in outer Delhi, triggering speculations of sexual assault by the accused.

"The report indicates that there is no injury suggestive of sexual assault. The final report will be received in due course," said Sagar Preet Hooda, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).

According to the autopsy, there were reportedly 40 “antemortem external injuries” on her body and her brain matter was missing. The autopsy also suggested that her skull cavity was found open, her spine was fractured and ribs were “exposed from the back of the chest."

Singh was the sole bread-earner of her family and supported an ailing mother and six siblings.
